I was talking with some of my good friends last night and one of our friends is getting married very soon, here’s some advice that I shared with her last night about creating a beautiful cake this spring!

Spicy Colors – One of the hottest trends of the spring season this year is to spice up your wedding cake with some hot colors. This year brides are choosing all kinds of colors ranging from lime green, pink, white and bolder colors such as red and orange. When colors aren’t enough to create pop – shimmery elements are being pulled in to make your cake shine. Take advantage of your cake decorator and have them create multiple layers of colors.

Flavors of Spring – The trick here is to explore your non-bland taste buds and find some flavors that go outside your norm. Taste buds this season are loving fruit and berries as a accent flavors but also as fillers for in the inner layers of cake. Chocolate cake is great, but find some tasty accent flavors to bring in a hint of spring.

Spring Floral Accents – Flowers can really make a huge difference in your overall presentation of your cake. I have found that most people either love or hate flowers, literally black-and-white on the subject. But you don’t have to over-do the flowers on your cake, in fact if you do over-do it, it can really look ugly. So take a step back and decide on some beautiful flowers that provide accent to your cake and refrain from hiding the cake under a mountain of flowers. You can always have your wedding cake maker paint flowers on certain sections of your cake too!
