When you choose a wedding photographer, it is always important for you to make sure they have a great deal of experience working with weddings. There are many branches of photography, and not all photographers specialize in weddings. When you choose someone that deals specifically with weddings, they will have the experience you can rely on. If you choose someone who doesn’t specialize in weddings, they may use a style that is not conducive to the event. Even when you find someone that does specialize in weddings, you should look at their portfolio. By reviewing their portfolio, you can determine if they use a style that you like.

Even after you have reviewed their portfolio, you should ask for a list of references. Anyone can show you photos and claim that they are the one who took them. Get referrals to make sure the photographer is legitimate. You will also be required to sign a wedding photography contract, so it is important for you to view it carefully.

Making a great first impression is key with your save the date invitations! People either keep em’ or toss em’ – you want them to keep them, put them on their fridge, add the date to their blackberry, and circle the date on their calendar! Read the rest of this entry »

If a photographer is really good, their service will be spread by word of mouth. It is very likely that you have friends or family members who have got married in the last few years. There is no doubt they they used a photographer to create a photo album of the wedding. The first step in getting a good photographer is to ask them if there is anyone they recommend. Planning for guests coming from out of town is one thing that gets left until the last minute.

Think about this, how much time will it take to figure out what to do with all of your out of town guests?  It may seem like a short amount of time, but coordinating all their flights, travel and daily activities can be a huge task, especially if you’re doing it at the last minute.

Get Rooms Early – Book now, or pay later!
Book a block of rooms for your guests months in advance, most hotels require 10 rooms + to be booked if you want a block of rooms.  You can always change this number, usually with 24 hour notice.  Get rooms at hotel that is near your house, guests will want to come over and chat before and after the wedding.  Take a look now at room rates, they will change, and most likely be higher as your event gets closer.
